How does Instabatch parse Reddit's preview.images object for video thumbnails?
Reddit post JSON includes a preview object with images[].source.url (often on preview.redd.it) and resolutions[] arrays. We select the source width entry — the same asset Reddit uses before player UI overlays — and fetch it as a static JPG/PNG.
Will the Reddit thumbnail have a play button?
No. Reddit's play icon is rendered by the vreddit player. Instabatch returns the raw preview.images source graphic.
Does this download Reddit's hosted MP4 video?
No. We skip DASH/HLS fall_url parsing entirely. For full Reddit video downloads, use our Video Downloader.
Do old.reddit.com and www.reddit.com links both work?
Yes. Our parser normalizes both domains and resolves share redirects to the canonical post ID.
What about Reddit gallery posts with embedded video?
